Outstanding Universal Value

A 280 km long section of the Val de Loire is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a living cultural landscape (http://whc.unesco.org/fr/list/933).
This recognition of the site sanctions a territorial approach to heritage: the major monuments in the Royal Valley (châteaux and abbeys) and the prestigious façades of Orléans, Blois, Amboise, Tours and Saumur are taken into account in their geographical, economic, social and historical environment, and together they contribute to this heritage and landscape composition whose "Outstanding Universal Value" (OUV) has been part of the Memory of Mankind since 2000.
